UPDATE – THE TIME/DATE OF THE BIRKS CINEMA SCREENING IS 2PM, SUNDAY 16TH NOVEMBER.
I’m pleased to announce a screening of the film at the Birks Cinema, Aberfeldy, courtesy of the Heartland Film Society as part of the Aberfeldy Film Festival. I’ve also agreed to attend because I’m keen to see the cinema, originally built in 1939 but recently refurbished with a 100-seat state-of-the-art digital theatre. I’m happy too to meet the good folks of Aberfeldy so if you’re in the area please come along.
Apparently the HFS heard about the film when one of their members attended the Scottish Film Summit in Edinburgh earlier this year where Siobhan Synnot, Scotland on Sunday’s film critic cited The Devil’s Plantation as ‘the best Scottish film of 2013’.
At time of writing this is the last outing for the film. I’m always open to offers but right now I’m prepping my next film, Voyageuse, a project long in gestation but sadly short on funds, having been rejected by Creative Scotland’s Quality Arts Production Fund earlier this month and despite having the support of the CCA, Glasgow to create an ambitious presentation beyond the ‘normal’ way of watching films.
It’s ironic then that only yesterday Creative Scotland launched its long-awaited Film Strategy – not that I’m eligible to apply to their Screen Fund due to their onerous T&Cs. Fortunately I’m in a better position than many of my peers because I’m able to make films on miniscule budgets having taught myself the necessary skills over the last 30 years. Still, it’s regrettable that Creative Scotland choose not to promote projects made outside their orbit because they would gain credibility at no cost.
For those who’ve followed this blog over the last seven years, I hope you’ll continue to follow my progress as I migrate from this project to Voyageuse. I’ll be launching a new blog soon so watch this space – and if you do the Twitter thing, please follow @MyVoyageuse – to find out more.
would like a twitter link so I could distribute further. @scottishfirst 🙂
Hi Christopher – you mean a Twitter link to me? @MayMilesThomas or the film? @deilsplantin or my next film? @MyVoyageuse
Plenty of choice!
